Miss Rose Goes to

I am in
On my dad's laptop...or ...once was...long story. - Listening to Shining Collection and thinking of creating a new icon
Even though I have a plethora of events to keep track of, I feel as if I am experiencing writer's block (in a journal?)
Sudden was the decision to come here. I believe I was actually forced. My father just decided to come for me last Thurday from
Ah, I almost forgot...Wednesday (of last week)...was my performance (rather, the performance of Raina and I and the Intercultural Festival)...which everyone thoroughly loved even though we greatly faulted ...we were able to pull off some cover ups, and fortunately, no one noticed.
Well, for that week and the other weekdays leading to the event, the "What was one" 3-girl group consisting of Raina, Karina and I praciticed afterschool...we were severely behind, due to the fact that Karina joined much later on. At the last minute (meaning, the Thursday before last week...Wednesday of last week was the performance, as I had pointed out earlier), Miller had decided to cancel the Intercultural Night that we had so anticipated, and that we would only hold the Intercultural festival that would naturally occur during school. It had not been the first time that she had canceled it, but at he first time, she canceled that night for no apparent reason, and due to a few forceful words and pleas from our Administrator(s), she had no other choice than to re-establish that there would be an International Night. This time she had an excuse - The school play would be on that night (and for two other nights), and she believed that hardly anyone would attend the INternational Night if it conflicted with the play...(Ah, as opposed to last year when the International Night was so very successful despite the fact that there was a play occuring then, too). Ah, so back to the point. Since the International Night was canceled, Karina chickened out, apparently afraid to perform in front of the entire school that Wednesday afternoon. I had to think fast (or not).
So, fortunately, a CD that I had ordered some time ago came that Friday afternoon. I called Raina up and asked her if she still wished to to do a duet with me. She happily agreed. That would leave us with only two days to come up with something before the performance.
She is a dancer. I thought up a simple, but fun choreography over the weekend. Never did I think that there would be so many obstacles *comical sweatdrop*...
The choreography would be short and simple, yet cute. The song was Bitgannin Kidaho, an Egyptian Folk song about a dude (unsuccessfully) trying to court a beautiful girl. The dong itself is about 7 minutes, but I shortened it to about a little over 2 minutes...so that I would be able to fit my solo part within 5 minutes. The duet would be short and fun, and the solo would be awesome (the solo consisted of cane and veil use to Arabian techno music).
So, that Monday (the computer loses a good chunk of my information just about here), about ¾ of the time that I was planning to use for practice with Raina was consumed with other crap, namely Miller having the Fashion Show participants practice (I was a model for the fashion show as well…twice, actually)…practicing…walking…>_< We had nothing down, and I did not have much time to teach the choreography to Raina. As Miller demanded to see all dances that day, I prompted Raina to just follow along as I (freestyled? heh). To make matters even worse, my CD-RW with the song I had edited did not work on the old radio that was in use, so we had to dance to the original, leaving many gaps within the choreography as Miller and a few others watched. Miller then felt uneasy about having us perform, for as I danced, Raina seemed to not “know what’s going on”. The other backstage with us were delightful, all eager and wanting to learn Bellydance after seeing the two of us. Raina is a fast learner…I convinced Miller that we would have our choreography finished by Wednesday …after much of that, we went home…
That Tuesday, I pulled Raina aside in Orchestra class for a few minutes to show her another part of the choreography. Things started to look much better. Then again, ¾ of our time was taken up again afterschool…To my relief, my orchestra director granted us the period on Wednesday to practice (after I had asked that Monday)…and, turns out…he was absent that Wednesday morning. So, we practiced then…”perfecti-fying” the choreography. Raina indeed learned very quickly (but then again, she’s been dancing for years ^_^) I spent a good deal of Tuesday night making Raina’s top…and, although it was not nearly as elaborate as mine, it came out extremely kawaii.
So, as I said, we perfected everything that Wednesday morning…during 2nd period. The festival would take place in the Gym during 5th and 6th. I left a few minutes early in order to gather my costumes from the place in which I was hiding them, and to dress in the first thing that I would be modeling in.
To my dismay, Miller got absolutely furious at me when I mentioned my solo. Apparently, she was not planning on me doing the solo again since I did not show it to her, although she was well aware that I was planning to do a solo. I was not the only one supremely disappointed…those who had seen me practice we pleading for her to let me go on with the solo…I was thoroughly pissed off…If I had known, I would not have had to work so hard editing the songs to fit the time allotment, and I would have made the duet longer.
I was in the bathroom with others getting dressed in their international clothes. I wore my purple sari for the first segment of the fashion show, and my blue and gold cheongsam (Chinese dress) for the second segment of the fashion show (There were two segments, having some dance or skits before, between and after them). After I modeled the cheongsam, it would be our time to perform. This is when the problem arised that would cause us to fault while dancing. I had to run to the bathroom to quickly change into my bellydance attire (which was, mind you, a lot)…and before I could even finish dressing, a voice called to me, “Rose, you’re up!”….Crap.
On top of that, I had left my top covering in my bag. The top that I was wearing was constructed out of a bra, so the front is extremely low cut. I had made an extra piece to cover up my….boob area…and I left it in my bag on stage. As soon as I was called, I ran out of the bathroom, leaving my cheongsam and some other jewelry that I had intended to wear….and I dashed on the back of the stage…I couldn’t find it. I had to stuff a large piece of chiffon (I had a few pieces of chiffon in my bag as well) in the front of my bra to cover my chest, and I took another long piece of chiffon as a shawl around my neck. Thankfully, the person who introduced us had interviewed me the day before asking me a whole buttload of questions about bellydance, and gave a little essay-like presentation about the history of bellydance as I got dressed (oh, joy and fortune….) So, Raina and I ran out onstage…and I was still preoccupied with fixing my clothes. So preoccupied, that the both of us scrambled two segments of the dance…but thankfully, Raina seemed to be in tune with what I was thinking, and we covered up everything. By the time we were finished, we received the greatest accolades that superceded those of the other performances…which was quite astonishing, since I thought the others were quite good as well, and that ours was relatively short. We both received a great deal of attention for the rest of the week…most of which I, personally, could have done without >_<
Ah, enough about that…I am in
So sad…
In other news....I need some serious money!!!!!!
